Adaptations in participation

Suggested Adaptations:

  • Participate in whole or part of a task

    • Analyze the skills required for the task to decide which pieces of the task the student can complete independently, which require some assistance and which should be omitted from the task expectations

 

  • Participate in group work in a specific role

    • Assign a specific role for a project depending on the student’s strength(s)

      • Reader

      • Recorder

      • Graphic designer for presentation

      • Researcher

      • Computer specialist to create presentation

 

  • Student participates for the social aspect of being in a group

    • Friendship and social skills are the focus rather than development of content knowledge

    • Social behaviors are practiced within the group, reinforcing social stories being taught
