We offer a variety of course options for people interested in taking the Fundamentals of Structured Literacy course. The combination of Level 1 and Level 2 courses enable you to teach students to read and write through a multi-sensory, systematic, cumulative, fun approach.

This course is open to anyone interested in working with adults or children with reading and writing difficulties. If you are interested in tutoring, a parent looking for help, a teacher or a teacher assistant wanting to increase their knowledge of literacy instruction or add strategies to their tool kit this course will help.
You will learn through a multisensory, systematic, cumulative approach through class lecture, small group instruction and one-on-one coaching. You will be guided through every step and will prepare and practice lessons with a student.
Length: 40 hours
Summer Course runs for 8 days (9am-4pm)
During the school year the course runs for four evenings and two weekends.
(Week 1: Thurs and Fri 4pm-9pm, Sat and Sun 9am-4pm. Week 2: Sat and Sun 9am-4pm, Mon and Tues 4pm-9pm)

By the end of the course, trainees will have completed 6 lesson plans using multi-sensory aids, 6-1 hour practicum lessons, mastery of the Level 2 Auditory and Visual Sounds and a final review.
